BP has recently been allowed to move forward with allotting the medical benefits portion of the $9.2 billion settlement to oil spill victims.
The implementation of medical benefits was temporarily paused after some claimants expressed dissatisfaction over the medical benefit payment amount. These complaints were dismissed on Thursday, February 13 in a New Orleans U.S. Court of Appeals.
In addition to paying oil spill victims’ commercial, residential, and medical claims, BP faces settlements with federal, criminal, and environmental organizations.
