BP and Juneau clash over settlement agreement

Deepwater Horizon oil spill claims administrator Patrick Juneau filed a brief with the United States Supreme Court that stated that London-based oil giant BP was wrong when it blamed Juneau for misinterpreting the settlement, WWL reported on October 8.

The truth, Juneau said, is that he strictly followed the guidelines outlined in Exhibit 4B of the settlement agreement that BP explicitly agreed to.

BP vice president Geoff Morrell argued that many people were approved monetary awards from the settlement who did not experience losses directly related to the oil spill. BP is fighting for the Supreme Court to overturn two rulings that upheld the way in which Juneau approved claims.
