Although Deepwater Horizon claims administrator Patrick Juneau recently made disparaging remarks about BP CEO Bob Dudley, he claims that he was not threatening to sue, the Louisiana Record reported on July 26.
Juneau received serious criticism from BP since 2012 regarding accusations that he misinterpreted the business economic loss section of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill’s settlement agreement, making him responsible for the overpayment of hundreds of settlement claims amounting to millions of dollars. Tensions escalated when Dudley accused Juneau of purposefully misinterpreting the agreement. Juneau adamantly defended himself and called Dudley’s accusation a lie.
New Orleans-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit mandated in 2013 that Juneau adopt a different method of calculating business losses.
